Independent Delivery Service was founded in October of 1973 by its president, Mike Depe, mdepe@independentdel.com. The company was formed to provide
an alternative distribution of 3rd class mail and newspaper inserts for businesses in the greater Minneapolis/
Saint Paul seven county metro area. An immediate need was evident, and the company began to grow rapidly.
Our customers liked the high quality service and high visibility at affordable rates.
In 1989, Independent Delivery Service purchased
and moved into its present facility at 440 West Minnehaha Avenue in Saint Paul. The 18,000 square foot
building provides garage space for our 20 owned vehicles, warehousing space for our ongoing deliveries, and office space for
our sales and office staff.
Today, Independent Delivery Service is one of the largest alternative distribution services operating in the
country. More than 150 employees and independent contractors are involved in delivering more than 50 million
pieces per year for our ever expanding list of clients. Our account representatives, Mike Tierney, mtierney@independentdel.com, and Paul Overson, poverson@independentdel.com, have nearly 30 years experience in selling various advertising media,
and have been with Independent Delivery Service for more than 20 years. Brian Amundsen, bamundsen@independentdel.com, our operations manager has been with Independent Delivery Service
for over 20 years, and is an expert in quality controls, distribution scheduling, and customer service.
We are continuing to expand our regular delivery areas, our quality controls, our computer mapping
systems, our vehicle fleet, and our delivery personnel, to accommodate the needs of our present customers, as well as expanding
